FAQ

The questions that come up before sign-up.

  • Is Krexel open source?
The CLI and MCP server are MIT-licensed on GitHub. The hosted product (custom domains, dashboard, team workspaces, AI editing) is the paid side of the company — same model as Supabase, Plausible, and Clerk.
  • Can my AI edit my site after it's deployed?
On the hosted product, yes. Tell your AI 'change the about page heading' — it reads the file, generates the patch, ships it. Live in 8 seconds, costs 0.1 deploy against your quota. The CLI does full deploys only.
  • Do I need to know what an MCP server is?
No. MCP is the protocol your AI already speaks — Krexel is one more tool it can call. Paste the snippet, restart the app, done.
  • How is Krexel different from Vercel or Netlify?
Both require a git commit and a full rebuild to change a single line. Krexel ships a diff — your AI patches the live site in 8 seconds, no rebuild. Patches cost 0.1 deploy; full deploys cost 1.0.
  • Can my AI deploy without me watching?
Yes, but only with the API key you minted. The key scopes what your AI can do — you can revoke it from the dashboard at any time.
  • What happens to my sites if I cancel?
They keep serving for 30 days, then we archive. You can pull the source out any time before that.
  • What does Krexel actually host on?
A global edge network with HTTPS by default. You never pick a provider — you ship a folder, you get a URL.
